Episode 42: The Miasma of the Void, Cool (Vanilla) Ice, Part 1

Terence D'Arby's final hurrah.
Terence D’Arby’s final hurrah.

As I briefly mentioned near the end of my previous review, this is one of the few times where a villain sticks around longer than two episodes. That being said, it’s pretty obvious that Terence D’Arby won’t be around for long since the episode is named after another villain, Cool (Vanilla) Ice.

All I know about Vanilla Ice is that he’s one of the more menacing villains, which makes sense, since he’s all that’s left between the protagonists and DIO…

First Time Review: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders

Episode 41 – D’Arby the Player, part 2.

Kakyoin performs the patented 'spin your car like a maniac' technique.
Kakyoin performs the patented ‘spin your car like a maniac’ technique.

Terence “Younger” D’Arby is a creepy jerk, much like Demande from Sailor Moon. Both have similar personalities to a degree, with one collecting dolls made with victims’ souls and the other obsessing over the Queen they’ll never have. I find both villains despicable, yet intriguing, as good villains should be. Between the two, I think Terence is more off-putting, as evidenced in my episode 40 review; that being said, I’m sure episode 41 will prove this point even more.

I guess I should get this show on the road, then!

Episode 40 – D’Arby the Player, part 1.

Shocked and maybe appalled.
Shocked and maybe appalled.
(NOTE: I’m going to be posting my screenshots in a larger resolution from here on out! This layout is wide enough now to accompany this. :))

At the end of the previous episode, our protagonists were greeted by DIO’s ‘butler,’ a peculiar looking man with a similar, metal-plated face as D’Arby from episodes 34 and 35. It goes without saying that this man must have some sort of relation to D’Arby, which can only mean bad things. If you recall, the previous D’Arby was calculating, conniving, and flat out tough to outwit. Jotaro had to literally bluff and make D’Arby believe his hand was so great that it couldn’t be beat.

This D’Arby has to be difficult to defeat as well, since there aren’t too many episodes left in this part of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, and I’d like to imagine the worst villains were saved for last.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Stardust Crusaders Episode 39

First Time Review: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Stardust Crusaders

Episode 39 – The Guardian of Hell, Pet Shop, part 2.

Since Episode 38 was pretty intense, and I’m guessing that seeing the conclusion to the Pet Shop arc is at the top of everyone’s list (if not, it should be!) I’m going to skip the middleman and dive right in, head first, into this review. Let’s go!

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Stardust Crusaders Episode 38

First Time Review: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Stardust Crusaders

Episode 38 – The Guardian of Hell, Pet Shop, part 1.

Now that we’re done with Hol Horse and Boingo, I’m going to go ahead and assume that from here on out, Stardust Crusaders will primarily focus on serious storyline, as opposed to humorous fluff. Not that I disliked the last two episodes or anything, because I didn’t, but I can safely say that I’m ready for the plot to continue.

First Time Review: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Stardust Crusaders

Episode 37 – Hol Horse and Boingo, part 2.

I’m not even going to beat around the bush on this one. I’m hideously late. That being said, I’m planning on running through the next few Jojo episodes a little quicker than usual so that I can catch up and post my reviews more concurrent to their airing.

So, this will be a little shorter than usual, which might be a good thing!
