JoJo – Diamond is Unbreakable Episode 23 and Episode 24 Review

Koichi vs Kira

JoJo – Diamond is Unbreakable Episode 23 and Episode 24 Review

Episode 23: Heart Attack, Part 1

Episode 24: Heart Attack, Part 2

I was out of town on vacation last week (and stuck with poor wifi) so I was unable to review episode 23 on time. I’ve decided to write another joint review for two episodes so that I can catch up and be able to write one for episode 25 when it comes out, to keep things on a decent schedule.

Yoshikage Kira Just Wants to Live Quietly, Part 2

Yoshikage Kira’s secret has been exposed, and the one person to see it is none other than Shigechi. Kira can’t have anyone knowing what he does in his spare time continue to live, so it’s inevitable that he threatens to kill Shigechi immediately. Of course, to adhere to the JoJo trend for this arc, Kira has a Stand; he reveals it at the very end of the previous episode to anything but applause, but the reveal is essentially redone for episode 22.

Yoshikage Kira Just Wants to Live Quietly, Part 1

I’m trying out yet another format for this review, which is more traditional!

Yoshikage Kira is a strange man. He’s a good worker, and women are very interested in him, but he usually wants to keep to himself. Coworkers describe him as boring, but there has to be something more to his personality than desiring to work. After all, he’s appeared in several episodes (albeit briefly,) which should be proof enough that he has some importance in the Diamond is Unbreakable storyline.

The previous episode (which occurs after this one in the manga, if you recall) was gorgeously animated. An ‘off’ frame couldn’t be spotted, and the stained glass inspired spreads were phenomenal. Seeing that last week really pumped me up for this episode, since I knew this one was overall more important/significant to the plot and, well, why would the animation get worse after it was amazing?

JoJo – Diamond is Unbreakable Episodes 19 and 20 Review

Episode 19: Shigechi’s Harvest, Part 2

Episode 20: Yukako Yamagishi Dreams of Cinderella

I’m doing something different this time around, as you’ve probably gathered from the title and the fact that I haven’t posted a review for episode 19 yet. Honestly, I’ve been having some health issues and haven’t been up to reviewing this past week, which is part of the reason why I decided to ultimately do a joint review. The other reason is, well, these episodes don’t do as much for me as the next ones will, based off of my knowledge of the manga and my personal tastes.

These recaps will be much shorter than usual, but I’ll be returning to my original format beginning with episode 21.

Shigechi’s Harvest, Part 1

Last episode’s animation and pacing were pretty much spot on, so I was looking forward to seeing if David Production kept it up for this one as well.

Recap/Review: Josuke is broke. Even though Joseph paid him back for what he spent on the invisible baby, he still found a way to drain his savings account… by buying expensive clothes. Oh boy.

Rohan Kishibe’s Adventure

I have a new computer! My old one was getting really slow (I couldn’t even play Diablo III on it reliably) so I finally upgraded. Now that everything is set up on it, I can get to reviewing the most recent JoJo episode. 🙂

Recap/Review: I was pretty disappointed with how inconsistent the animation was in the Ratt episode (episode 16), and so I had some reservations about this one before starting to watch it. This episode is important to the overarching plot of Diamond is Unbreakable, so I wanted the animation to be good, at the very least.

Thankfully, I discovered that the Ratt episode was under the supervision of a different animation director than usual, so that kind of explained a lot. The same animation director worked on the DIO fight episodes from Stardust Crusaders, which were also pretty inconsistent! The more you know, right?

Episode 17, I believe, was done by the ‘regular’ director, so it’s kind of like night and day in regards to quality versus the Ratt episode.
