JoJo – Diamond is Unbreakable Episode 27 Review

JoJo – Diamond is Unbreakable Episode 27 Review

I’m an Alien

So, this is another one of those episodes that kind of hurts me, much like episode 21. It’s for the same reason, too; the animation is very inconsistent. When it’s good, it’s good; when it’s bad, it’s down right awful.

I’ve heard that this episode was outsourced to the same studio that did episode 21, and it really shows. I’m honestly beginning to feel like David Production is the opposite of Toei now, in terms of consistency. Remember how awful the first two seasons of Sailor Moon Crystal looked at times? Diamond is Unbreakable is getting to that point. Now, the thing is that David Production CAN really shine if they have the budget/time/motivation, I know they can, and Toei had to change up a decent amount of the staff to make Sailor Moon Crystal shine.

I honestly don’t know what’s going on with David Production. It’s probably just budgeting issues, but darn if it isn’t really obnoxiously annoying.

JoJo – Diamond is Unbreakable Episode 25 Review

(Atom) Heart Father

Yoshikage Kira has changed his appearance to that of Kosaku Kawajiri, a working class man with a wife and son. The protagonists have yet to discover this identity, so they travel to his old house to see if they can find anything important; meanwhile, Kosaku’s wife notices that her husband is now cooking dinner on his own, which is something he has never done before.

Yoshikage Kira Just Wants to Live Quietly, Part 2

Yoshikage Kira’s secret has been exposed, and the one person to see it is none other than Shigechi. Kira can’t have anyone knowing what he does in his spare time continue to live, so it’s inevitable that he threatens to kill Shigechi immediately. Of course, to adhere to the JoJo trend for this arc, Kira has a Stand; he reveals it at the very end of the previous episode to anything but applause, but the reveal is essentially redone for episode 22.

Yoshikage Kira Just Wants to Live Quietly, Part 1

I’m trying out yet another format for this review, which is more traditional!

Yoshikage Kira is a strange man. He’s a good worker, and women are very interested in him, but he usually wants to keep to himself. Coworkers describe him as boring, but there has to be something more to his personality than desiring to work. After all, he’s appeared in several episodes (albeit briefly,) which should be proof enough that he has some importance in the Diamond is Unbreakable storyline.

The previous episode (which occurs after this one in the manga, if you recall) was gorgeously animated. An ‘off’ frame couldn’t be spotted, and the stained glass inspired spreads were phenomenal. Seeing that last week really pumped me up for this episode, since I knew this one was overall more important/significant to the plot and, well, why would the animation get worse after it was amazing?

JoJo – Diamond is Unbreakable Episodes 19 and 20 Review

Episode 19: Shigechi’s Harvest, Part 2

Episode 20: Yukako Yamagishi Dreams of Cinderella

I’m doing something different this time around, as you’ve probably gathered from the title and the fact that I haven’t posted a review for episode 19 yet. Honestly, I’ve been having some health issues and haven’t been up to reviewing this past week, which is part of the reason why I decided to ultimately do a joint review. The other reason is, well, these episodes don’t do as much for me as the next ones will, based off of my knowledge of the manga and my personal tastes.

These recaps will be much shorter than usual, but I’ll be returning to my original format beginning with episode 21.

Shigechi’s Harvest, Part 1

Last episode’s animation and pacing were pretty much spot on, so I was looking forward to seeing if David Production kept it up for this one as well.

Recap/Review: Josuke is broke. Even though Joseph paid him back for what he spent on the invisible baby, he still found a way to drain his savings account… by buying expensive clothes. Oh boy.
