Skoshbox Review January 2017

Skoshbox Review January 2017

Yep, I’m actually writing this review right after receiving the box! I’m trying to be better about doing that this year, among other things. Anyway, last month’s box was great, and upon first glance this one looks great, too. Let’s find out if that’s actually true!

1.) Hi-Chew Premium

I don’t think I’ve ever had a Hi-Chew before, surprisingly enough. Unless a snack has appeared in a Skoshbox at some point, I’ve probably never tried it. Hi-Chew is one of those snacks that I’m surprised has never been included in a box since it’s extremely popular. (That and flavored KitKats. C’mon Skoshbox, please PLEASE put some in a box this year!!)

This one is “rich yogurt” flavor, and since I like yogurt and milk flavors, I assumed I’d like this before even trying it. Aaaand I did! It’s chewy, like the name, and has a sweet, milky taste. I could definitely see myself finishing the bag before long, haha,

I hope Hi-Chew returns in a Skoshbox soon!

Rating: 5/5

2.) Shimi Corn Stick

This is a stick that looks a lot like Big Z Milk Bar from last month’s box, but chocolate brown. It’s choco-infused, and according to the ingredients, contains both cocoa powder AND cacao mass!

The taste of this is really, really similar to something American that I can’t place off the top of my head. Coco Puffs, maybe? Either way, it’s really chocolate-y, as expected, and very tasty.

I think I like this more than the Big Z Milk Bar, if I have to be honest.

Rating: 5/5

3.) Otonano Takenoko

So, this is a very interesting snack. They’re “adult series” chocolate takenoko cookies. As explained in the booklet that came in the box, takenoko are bamboo shoots. Interesting.

I have NO idea what “adult series” means, at all. (Good thing I am one!)

Anyway, these are extremely chocolate-y, putting the Shimi Corn Stick to shame! They’re shaped like bamboo shoots, and contain a chocolate cookie under a coating of dark chocolate.

I think this is a first, everyone — I’m rating the first three items 5/5!

4.) Pocky: Crystal Salty

I like Pocky. I’ve been sad that I haven’t gotten any in a Skoshbox in a while, since I don’t think they send out Glico only boxes anymore. 🙁 That being said, this flavor of Pocky isn’t going to be my favorite, as I’ve never been the biggest fan of salted sweet stuff. It’s “okay.”

This Pocky comes in a fancy box saying COOL. What’s COOL about salt? I dunno.

The salt on these isn’t nearly as daunting as I had expected. The crystals are tiny, sparse, and add a hint of flavor to the chocolate. I actually really like these, though I still don’t know what’s COOL about them?

Rating: 5/5 Again?! Wow!

5.) High Lemon Candy

These are chewable, crumbly lemon tab candy, and they come in a package like pills do.

Even though that’s kind of strange, these tabs are very tasty and remind me of lemonade! They aren’t too sour at all, which I was kind of worried about at first. Even when they crumble and dissolve they still taste like a strong lemonade.

Bonus: Ramune Bottle Candy

Skoshbox was kind enough to send out an extra treat with this month’s box! It’s a bottle with ramune flavored tab candy inside. I’ve had this before, but I don’t think I wrote about it. It’s good, but  nothing super remarkable. Since it was a bonus, I won’t give it a real rating here.

Verdict for Jan. 17’s box: EXCELLENT! This is the first time I’ve given a box all 5’s, and that’s incredible! Way to go, Skoshbox! Keep it up! Put some KitKat’s in February’s box and get more 5’s from me, hahaha.
