Episode 14

Act 14 – CONCLUSION AND COMMENCEMENT

And here we are with part two of Sailor Moon Crystal. As I stated in my last post, I’m not going to hold back with my reviews from here on out, since I loved part two (Sailor Moon R) more than part one, and overall, the beginning of Crystal didn’t fully deliver.

As a reminder of what was going on last in the series, we begin episode 14 with Sailor Moon preparing to seal Metallia away for good. This could have happened at the end of the previous episode, but it was split into two acts, much like the manga. Surprisingly enough, we didn’t get a new opening here, which I was definitely expecting. Guess Toei’s budget couldn’t allot for another OP, huh?

The opening isn’t the focus of my reviews, though, so I’ll move on.

My Feelings on Sailor Moon Crystal, Thus Far

You’re probably wondering, “why this write-up? We know your feelings on Crystal, we’ve read your reviews,” and yes, you have. Thing is, I’ve been thinking about the series lately, and well, I’m not happy. It’s funny, though, since my reviews are pretty positive; reviews aren’t set in stone all of the time, though, so I guess it shouldn’t be too surprising that I’m re-evaluating my original feelings. Sure, the episodes aren’t terrible, and I’m not going to go back and re-write all of my posts, but something about this series keeps nagging me, and it’s troublesome.

Episode 13

Act 13 – Final Battle – REINCARNATION

Hope you all have had a wonderful holiday! 🙂

This episode of Sailor Moon Crystal immediately begins by refreshing our memories about the ending of episode 12; specifically, the desperate act Usagi performed at the last minute to free not only Mamoru, but herself as well, from the tight clasp of Metallia. (In other words, Usagi’s hope was to be reincarnated again with her love.)

Episode 12

Act 12: ENEMY – Queen Metallia

Hello, everyone! It’s the Holiday Season and most everyone is in good spirits, including myself. I’m pumped to watch and review episode 12 since 11 ended on a cliffhanger, and also since this episode is the last one of the year. Woohoo!

As you probably remember, episode 11 ended in a bit of a heart-wrenching way. Possessed Endymion/Mamoru (whom I dubbed Mamendo) attacked the Guardians and Luna, and Sailor Moon tried to heal him from this with Moon Healing Escalation, only to fail due to Queen Beryl blocking the shot. How does episode 12 follow this?

[Note: If the screenshots look a little different, it’s because they’re in .jpg format instead of .png! I’m trying to conserve space a little; let me know what you think!]

Episode 11

Act 11: Reunion – ENDYMION

Since I was a week late reviewing episode 10, the three-week wait until episode 11 was only a two-week one, and so it didn’t feel nearly as slow as it would have if I had reviewed episode 10 on time. I suppose that’s a positive way of thinking; it almost makes my procrastination acceptable, haha.

Anyway, episode 11 is here, and so let’s begin!

Episode 10

Act 10: MOON

I’m late! Sorry about that; unfortunately, I had planned on reviewing this last Saturday, as I usually do, but a lot of things came up. I should be far timelier next episode. Thanks for bearing with me!

So, as we left off in the previous episode, the Guardians are about to travel to the moon to find and save Mamoru, as well as find out more information about the bad guys and themselves. Rei asks the ever important question, “how are we getting to the moon?” which I’m sure was in the back of your mind last episode; I know it was in mine. Minako responds simply by telling her she’ll find out soon enough, which just makes the question even more prominent. Makoto is excited about going to the moon, though, and doesn’t worry about the technicalities of it all. Supposedly, this is a decent, albeit quick way of differentiating the personalities of Rei and Makoto, which I found interesting.
